[What] Come join us explore and marvel at some significant aviation history at NASA Dryden and Edwards Air Force Base. (NASA Dryden is only available for weekday tours and that is why it is on a Friday.)
Edwards AFB, this is the Air Forces primary Flight Test Center, (AFFTC), the Base is the home of the Air Force Test Pilot School, and dates back over 60 years. This is where the Sound Barrier was broken.
NASA-Dryden Flight Research Center, The Primary Aeronautics and Flight Research Center of NASA, The Center dates back 45+ years. From the early days of breaking the Sound Barrier, the X-1 Bell, the X15, Lunar Lander trainer, to today's Space Shuttle.
For the non-flight reasearch people, look this up, "Budweiser Rocket" this was the first land speed car to break the land sound barrier in 1979, but did not get into the record books. This was done on Edwards AFB, Rogers Dry Lake Bed
Tour starts @ 10:30AM,, could be an hour or 2, walking tour NASA Gift Shop opens @ 9:00AM NASA Cafe @ 6:30AM

I have to see if I can get a babysitter, but I don't think it will be a problem. Who do I send my info to? I don't want to post it here. I hope it is not hot. My little Mini doesn't like the heat.
We )the husband and I) really want to go! However, can we meet you at Edwards? As we are coming from Hemet, it would be easier for us to zip up there in one straight line rather than heading to sylmar and then over.
Hi Peter, you can pm or send me an email from here or Madhatter at North American Motoring. Or if you still have the Italian Job booklet thing we handed out, my cell number is listed in that and you can call me with your info.
(Same applies to Robyn, and anyone else regarding personal information needed to be supplied to the Military to access the base.)
Robyn Meeting us out there it totally fine. We should arrive at the gate at about 9:45 ish
Best,
- Charlie

Charlie, I found an intresting book in our library,,, "Wings and Warriors" looks like some good reading.
Please make a note; On arriving at Edwards,, There is a new Visitors Center right at the Main Gate from Rosamond, Orange Tower, it's the first Air Traffic Control tower used at Edwards. It's part of the Edwards Museum, Everyone needs to meet there first.
Hay gang, your personal information that you give to Charlie will only go to him, NASA Public Affairs and Edwards Security. I hope this will not detour anyone from coming out
I planned to take the 21st off already, but for the babie's annual check up. Kudo to the wife, she said if we can re-schedule the appointment then I can go ... hehehe ...
I told Charlie I would be going, but now I'm not certain due to a potential timing conflict with a customers car...although on the other hand because it's a morning event, I think I can probably make it as long as I get back before 4pm or so.

Maybe we can have a second meeting point? Not trying to make things more complicated. I'm not certain I can drop my son off at school and still make the 8AM meeting in Sylmar. But I do realize that this is a long drive. Google Maps says that from my shop in Placentia to NASA it's 128 miles or 2 hours and 26 minutes...though from my house in Mar Vista it's actually closer-- just under 2 hours or 99 miles to the base.....hmm guess I'll be coming from my house--and will try to make the Sylmar location.

Very sorry guys about the last minute info needed, I wasn't told about the DOB stuff either, We have until tomorrow morning to get the info in. Please wear anything that would make you comfortable. Please guy's (not girls),,,, No short shorts or tank tops, hehehehe
For anyone wanting to make the drive, you can take 210 fwy to Angeles Crest Highway over to the 14 Fwy
As long as your Name is on the list with the info they are requiring only one ID. Many things have changed to gain access to Edwards AFB and NASA. A person entering Edwards AFB must now also have a sponser on Base (Vendors ect,,,). This info your giving to Charlie is to gain access for the tour.
